Dear Family and Friends of the Cheshire Fire Department,

 

            We are writing to inform everyone that we are expanding the parameters of the Auxiliary. As you may, or may not know, our Bylaws state that the Auxiliary is composed of the wives of active, and lifetime members of the fire department. We have functioned this way for the past 50+ years. The times have changed over the last couple of years, and we now realize that we too need to revamp our membership as well. In this day and age many households function with two working parents, and kids who have busier social lives than we; and as their parents we are just as busy dropping of and picking up. With this said, we realize volunteering for ANY organization, let alone one that a family member is involved in, is not easy to fit into our daily lives. We are expanding our parameters of membership to invite you to get involved, and learn more about what it is that your son, husband, brother, girlfriend, sister, mother, or boyfriend is involved in. Also becoming part of the Auxiliary enables you to find out more of what it is that the Fire department stands for. Also when attending any function, being a member helps you feel more comfortable when attending department functions.

            Joining the Auxiliary does not require many hours of commitment. Our current members have very busy lives as well. We meet the second Thursday of every month Sept through Nov, and then resume Jan through June. Our meetings are at CFD HQ, starting at 7:30PM and usually run about 1 to 1 ½ hours. The meetings are very informative on Auxiliary and Department doings. On a few occasions throughout the year, we are joined by Chief Jack Casner, and Deputy Chief Donn Youngquist. They keep us informed on department doings, and address any issues the Auxiliary may have. There are other functions that we coordinate through out the year, but with volunteers the work gets done quickly and everyone enjoy being a member of the CFD Family.

            We hope you will take the time to visit one of our meetings, and to see what we are all about. We invite you to attend our regularly scheduled meet in September, Thursday the 11^th, 7:30PM at Cheshire Fire Department Headquarters. Please feel free to contact either of us for more information, or even a ride to the September meeting!
